I’m finding my 3-times-a-week cardiac rehab — on some sort of recumbent device I can’t name — at St. Anthony’s North in nearby Westminster, CO to be enjoyable. There’s a great view of the Rockies to the west (the gym is on the 2nd floor and the walls are nearly all glass), and my 9:15AM “class” seems to have only one other participant. I did 30 minutes this morning at a low level of resistance, and it wasn’t uncomfortable (because I’m NOT using my right leg with the arthritic hip).
My roommate is an 81-year-old, 320-pound guy who is angry, bitter, and addicted to opioids; he frequently yells, screams, and curses for more pain pills he no longer has any legitimate medical need to consume. He currently has cellulitis, recently spent a week in the hospital being treated with IV antibiotics, but I know from personal experience with this disease twice in the past two years that it’s really not that painful . . . His favorite activity lately is to lie in bed wearing only an adult diaper and T-shirt and pressing his call light every 10 minutes to summon staff to his assistance — but usually he doesn’t remember what he needed when they arrive.
RANDOM THOUGHTS:
Has Roseanne Barr looked at herself in the mirror lately? She has no room to call anyone else the bastard offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes.” Having said that, I must also opine that racism has many other faces we mustn’t forget. Here’s one:
Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam
I’m scratching my head over the felony cases brought against the Missouri governor. One was dropped because a key piece of evidence (a racy photo of his mistress) apparently never existed, and the other involves his use of a donor list from the charity he founded to solicit donations to his political campaign. WTF? This is a Mickey Mouse violation! In any case, he’s now resigned from office.
I watch a lot of TV, and am grateful for both the Turner Classic Movies channel and the Fox News Channel.
That’s all for now . . .
