Update 5/30/2018 and random thoughts

By Max R. Weller

I’m finding my 3-times-a-week cardiac rehab — on some sort of recumbent device I can’t name — at St. Anthony’s North in nearby Westminster, CO to be enjoyable. There’s a great view of the Rockies to the west (the gym is on the 2nd floor and the walls are nearly all glass), and my 9:15AM “class” seems to have only one other participant. I did 30 minutes this morning at a low level of resistance, and it wasn’t uncomfortable (because I’m NOT using my right leg with the arthritic hip).

My roommate is an 81-year-old, 320-pound guy who is angry, bitter, and addicted to opioids; he frequently yells, screams, and curses for more pain pills he no longer has any legitimate medical need to consume. He currently has cellulitis, recently spent a week in the hospital being treated with IV antibiotics, but I know from personal experience with this disease twice in the past two years that it’s really not that painful . . . His favorite activity lately is to lie in bed wearing only an adult diaper and T-shirt and pressing his call light every 10 minutes to summon staff to his assistance — but usually he doesn’t remember what he needed when they arrive.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

Has Roseanne Barr looked at herself in the mirror lately? She has no room to call anyone else the bastard offspring of the “Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes.” Having said that, I must also opine that racism has many other faces we mustn’t forget. Here’s one:

I’m scratching my head over the felony cases brought against the Missouri governor. One was dropped because a key piece of evidence (a racy photo of his mistress) apparently never existed, and the other involves his use of a donor list from the charity he founded to solicit donations to his political campaign. WTF? This is a Mickey Mouse violation! In any case, he’s now resigned from office.

I watch a lot of TV, and am grateful for both the Turner Classic Movies channel and the Fox News Channel.

That’s all for now . . .

Boulder, CO: Sanctuary city for transient sex offenders

By Max R. Weller

See the Boulder Police Sex Offender Registry here. Please note how many perverts list the address of Boulder Shelter for the Homeless at 4869 N. Broadway, Boulder Community Treatment Center at 1770 21st St., or are simply noted as lacking a fixed address.

Looks to me like nothing has changed, the highly-touted Boulder County Coordinated Entry process notwithstanding . . .

Update 5/23/2018

By Max R. Weller

I’ll be going to Cardiac Rehab at St. Anthony’s North in neighboring Westminster, CO on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings for the next few months. I doubt that I’ll be fit enough to return outdoors — as I’d LOVE to do — but at least it’s a welcome break from the boredom and unpleasantness of my roommate’s constant yelling and crying about everything and everybody.

That’s all I have time to post . . . Have a good day!

Escape from Boulder

DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY, STOP ENABLING BAD BEHAVIOR!

By Max R. Weller

I’m now living in a long-term care facility in Thornton, CO; I’ve been here since last Christmas, but haven’t been able to get out to a library to go online. I’m using a computer in the Activities Offices, and have only a few minutes to post this update,

The good news is that this is a MUCH better environment than Boulder Manor — no drunks or druggies or (so far as I know) perverts roaming the halls at all hours and behaving badly. The bad news: my current roommate is, sadly, just about the most disagreeable SOB I’ve ever encountered, and you will remember I’ve been in both prison and homeless shelters.

I’ve forgotten my Facebook password, so I can’t post there. My friends can reply here,

A couple of thoughts: 1) Harry and Meghan should have eloped, and 2) Although I still despise Trump’s personality, I LOVE every policy his administration is pursuing!

A visitor would be nice — just look up the street address of ELMS HAVEN in Thorton, CO.

Addendum 5/21: I’ve discovered that Facebook is blocked on this computer (presumably to keep the Elms Haven employees from wasting time on it) so that’s one more roadblock to keeping in touch with the outside world. NOT that I miss anything about the Boulder Bubble, LOL . . . If anyone would be so kind as to put together some supplies to send to me, I’ll post a list of necessities on this blog. Have a good day!
