Stabbing #3 here in Boulder, CO this month alone

Read about the latest incident in the Daily Camera — Boulder police investigate stabbing at Elmer’s Two Mile Park. Copied below in its entirety:

Boulder police arrested a man they allege stabbed another man at Elmer’s Two Mile Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Cmdr. Tom Trujillo said that Joshua Churchill Ramsey, 35, was taken into custody shortly after they say he stabbed another man while the two were smoking at the park. The victim, an adult, male told police that the attack was unprovoked.

Trujillo said the victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. A news release sent out on Tuesday evening said the victim was taken to Boulder Community Health’s Foothills Hospital for treatment.

He said police received the call at about 5:15 p.m. and responded to the area of 28th Street and Iris.

Police could be seen briefly using crime tape to close of a business at 28th Street and Iris but  quickly removed the tape. Police also closed down the bicycle path leading to the park north from Glenwood Avenue.

Boulder police Detective Sgt. Tom Dowd said police were not  releasing the exact location on the body where the victim was stabbed, because the full extent of his injuries were not known on Tuesday evening.

The case remains under investigation.

What were they smoking? Meth?

What does it take to get the attention of Boulder City Council, anyway? I presume the perp and the victim in this case were both transients . . . Doesn’t seem like anything that would involve upstanding citizens who have resided in our city for a while.

Just a question, but I’m wondering if these incidents are gang-related. I talked with someone about it yesterday, and they speculated this might be the case, that maybe people are going through an initiation ritual where they have to hurt somebody to be allowed in a gang. Seems like an odd thing that this is the third stabbing in so many weeks, in the same town. Or maybe it’s the same perp, and he finally got caught.

I don’t think these are gang members. It’s just that the worst-behaved transients are out of control and those in authority in Boulder, CO are clueless about running ’em out of town (which would NOT be the first time that’s happened to any of the BUMS).
