‘A tarnished reputation for Boulder Manor’

See the letter-to-editor in the Daily Camera. Copied below in its entirety:

The Daily Camera has published two articles within a month stating that two separate individuals have been arrested for failure to register as sex offenders. There has also been information that vulnerable residents at the Boulder Manor Progressive Care Center have been touched (or worse) inappropriately by these men, who were residing there until their arrests by the police.

I have a sister who has been a resident at Boulder Manor for five years, and she has never felt so scared and unsafe as she is now. The current director has in a large part been responsible for these negative conditions. In the six months he has been on the job, he has welcomed a number of homeless individuals, apparently without asking for or looking at the records of past illegal activities. He has turned a deaf ear to complaints from residents, their families or even staff, who have been leaving at an unusually fast rate. His response to these complaints and fears is to suggest that the individual find another place to live or work.

Apparently bringing in more homeless men is good for business, and improving the bottom line is the main priority. The reputation of Boulder Manor Progressive Care is now tarnished by unsafe conditions and a climate of fear and intimidation. This has got to end, with more scrutiny of all individuals who are admitted into the program, as well as a closer look at what is going on and allowed by the current administration.

Hear, hear!

BTW, I’m currently a resident at Boulder Manor, but have made arrangements to move to another care facility in a neighboring city because of the street people who have taken over BM.

Addendum: There’s been a problem at not-so-lovely Boulder Manor with unknown residents downloading porn onto the one and only computer we have for Internet access, which I for one depend on. I think there’s little doubt it’s the bums here doing so — I can’t believe that any of the little old ladies in wheelchairs is guilty.
