Dangerously cold weather conditions in Boulder, CO area

DONATING TO A NONPROFIT IS NOT THE SAME AS HELPING THE HOMELESS!

By Max R. Weller

Here’s the forecast from the National Weather Service for the next few days.

STAY SOBER AND SEEK SHELTER INDOORS!

Check with BOHO on Facebook daily for the location of emergency warming centers, which rotate among a network of churches and a synagogue.

No word from Boulder Shelter For the Homeless on Facebook as to any plans to stay open during the day, but you might try calling them at (303) 442-4646. (The slogan above applies especially to folks who support BSH, which is almost always closed in the daytime hours despite being the largest and most well-equipped facility for the homeless in our city.)

No word from Bridge House on Facebook regarding possible extended hours of operation during this cold snap. Their phone number is (303) 442-8300.

Resources for the homeless in Boulder, CO.

If you visit the Main Branch of Boulder Public Library at 1001 Arapahoe to get out of the bitter temps, please treat the staff and other library patrons with respect — as you wish to be treated, yourself. Several of them are friends of mine, and you should always seek to abide by the Golden Rule:

Do this, and your life will be much more pleasant. It might save your life, too.
