DONATING TO A NONPROFIT IS NOT THE SAME AS HELPING THE HOMELESS!

Udall defeated in Colorado
Caveat: President Obama can still veto any piece of legislation passed by the GOP-controlled House and Senate, and Republicans lack the 2/3 majority required to override a veto.
There never has been a “War on Women” as claimed by Democrats — it’s the lingering Bush/Obama Great Recession which is hurting women, just as it hurts men and families with kids.
Of interest to me, from the old hometown:
Election results for Associate Circuit Judge Division II from the Lafayette County (MO) Clerk:
VALOREE MAYCOCK (DEM) 4,238 — 44.44%
RUSSELL KRUSE (REP) 5,286 — 55.43%
WRITE-IN 13 — 0.14%
I’m happy to have played a minor role in getting the word out about Ms. Maycock’s husband, Robert R. Long, who pleaded guilty to federal charges of Bank Fraud back in 1993 (one count involving a check from the City of Lexington payable to Mr. Long’s employer, which he deposited into his personal account) — at the time Ms. Maycock was serving as Lexington City Attorney.
I almost felt sorry for the toothless, very dirty, chronically homeless woman who was trying to panhandle at the corner of N. Broadway & U.S. 36 yesterday. Some passerby gave her a bag of potato chips, which she couldn’t eat! I hope she took a shower and did a load of laundry at Boulder Shelter for the Homeless this morning; there’s no reason for anyone to look that down and out here in Boulder, CO.
I’m told by one of the new residents at 1175 Lee Hill that almost nobody has so much as a picture to hang on the wall of their new apartment, nor a coffee maker, nor any money. It’s sad, and sadder still is the fact that some of them will be dead soon from alcohol-related causes, despite the millions of $$$ that have been spent.
Tonight at my campsite: unhealthy food to celebrate!
