Max’s Journal 7/16/2014

By Max R. Weller

This YouTube video is from July, 2013. I just came across it this morning, and I think it’s quite an interesting glimpse into the disrespectful attitudes of some transients. Listen for yourself — but, be advised that the video and audio portions are way out of sync.

Sad news: Bear cub gets trapped, dies in north Boulder backyard pool in the Daily Camera. Apparently, the sow exacted a measure of revenge for her loss by raiding a chicken coop a few blocks away, then eating several of the feathered residents.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife suspects the bear in this photo, taken May 21 near Wonderland Lake, is the mother of the cub that drowned Saturday.

BTW, raising backyard chickens in country frequented by bears, mountain lions, coyotes, and foxes is NOT the brightest thing one could attempt to do.

Not much else going on. I would have posted another update on Dallas Transient, but he wasn’t at Boulder Shelter for the Homeless this morning; I remain confident, however, that DT will be accepted into the program there — despite his cannabis addiction and other misbehaviors.

Tonight at my campsite: Subway sandwiches, thanks to the passerby who gave me a $10 cash card to that fine dining establishment.
